Dear Wharton alums,
This is to let you know that the Zicklin Center on Business Ethics at the Wharton School is co-sponsoring a session at the upcoming IMF-World Bank meetings that will be held in Densapar, Bali October 8 -12 and that you are invited to attend.
For some time Professor Bill Laufer (LGST) has worked with Djordjija Petkoski, a senior fellow in the Zicklin Center (who also teaches LGST 611/612) on the issues businesses face when they engage globally (especially in their global supply chains). They have done research on the impact of the UN Global Compact, corporate codes of conduct and more recently, company efforts to support the UN’s 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. Professor Petkoski works with the World Bank on its Ideas4Action Initiative, whereby the World Bank seeks to encourage businesses and other entities to develop new ideas for furthering an SDG. On Tuesday, October 9, from 2 – 3 pm, there will be an official session on the Ideas4Action Initiative World Bank Senior VP Mahmoud Mohieldin chairing at the Westin Hotel. Immediately following, from 3:30 – 5 pm, there will be a follow-up session co-sponsored by Wharton and the Tanoto Foundation, also at the Westin Hotel. This will be followed by a reception.
You are invited to attend, but please note -- you must register online and your registration must be approved. If you do not have an approved registration, you will not be allowed to board the shuttle bus from Densapar airport that takes you through the security perimeter. Once through the perimeter, you will go to the Nusa Dua Beach Hotel to get your badge. That badge allows you to attend any session during the week. (The Westin Hotel is very close to the Nusa Dua Beach Hotel.)
Everyone who will attend must register as soon as possible. You can do this (the online form lets a person’s “coordinator” do this). I am told that this is because the person’s name is sent to the office of the World Bank’s representative from the country before approval is granted. It obviously takes time with hundreds of people registering now.
*** Follow the directions below. By saying that you intend to participate in the 2 pm session, your request goes to Senior VP’s Mohieldin’s office as this will expedite the approval process.

Ideas for Action. Tuesday, October 9, 2018. 2-3pm at the Medan Room at the Westin Bali International Convention Center.
I look forward to seeing many of you in Denpasar,
